Heather Stockton
Instructional designer and content writer bringing clarity and accessibility wherever my work takes me.
About Me
I’m an instructional designer, writer, and systems thinker whose favorite work is making complex ideas accessible and meaningful. My background is in teaching multilingual learners – work rooted in equity, clarity, and the belief that everyone deserves access to information that empowers them. Though I’ve left the classroom, that belief still shapes everything I do.
I don’t just approach my work as content creation. I see it as translation: turning technical, layered material into something people can actually understand and use. I care about tone, flow, metaphor, structure. I care about whether a learner feels grounded or overwhelmed. And I care, at a values level, about whether the content supports understanding and access.
I enjoy working across formats: learning design, video scripting, job aids, and process documentation. I also like contributing at both the strategic and execution levels, and especially bridging the two, making sure that even the smallest content decisions support the overall purpose behind the work.
This portfolio offers a glimpse into a few selected projects. If you'd like to learn more about any of them, or talk about how I might approach a project you're working on, I'd love to have a conversation.
